Houghton Bloodstock Simply "Glorious" at Goodwood
Following on from our Royal Ascot success with horses produced by Houghton Bloodstock, we had a great 'Glorious Goodwood' with two winners produced at Fox Farm. Big Evs (Blue Point - Hana Lina - Oasis Dream) ridden by Jason Hart produced another fantastic display to win the prestigious Group 3 Molecomb Stakes from Purosanque. This truly tough 2yo has gone from strength to strength this year and has now won two group races on completely different group conditions. Congratulations to the whole team. Our second produced winner at the Goodwood Festival was the very impressive Ornellaia (Night of Thunder - Namhroodah - Sea the Stars) trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis and ridden by Kevin Stott won the Tatler British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes in great style from the Ralph Beckett trained Classic Song. This imposing grey filly has since finished second in a Group 2 event at Deauville and will likely continue in Pattern company. To complete a wonderful couple of months we also had a Listed winner in Ireland with Fix You (Night of Thunder - Ifubelieveindreams - Iffraaj) trained by Alice Haynes and ridden by J A Hefferman winning the Goffs Irish EBF Polonia Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies) at Cork racecourse.
This achievement is a testament to the relentless efforts, tireless hours, and profound love that the team at Fox Farm pours into nurturing and producing these exceptional racehorses. Their commitment is the driving force behind Houghton Bloodstock's consistent success in producing Group and Black Type winners year after year.

Houghton Bloodstock Consign Top Lot at Doncaster Premier Sales as Harry Angel Colt Fetches 220,000 guineas.
Houghton Bloodstock were again in the bloodstock news after consigning the top lot at the Doncaster Premier sales a Harry Angel colt fetching 220,000 guineas, which becomes comfortably the most expensive offspring of Harry Angel .
Houghton Bloodstock were entrusted with consigning the prized colt, who had plainly made plenty of shortlists before generating a flurry of bidding activity. Matters ultimately boiled down to Elliott, who was positioned in the office directly opposite the rostrum, and Oliver St Lawrence, taking instructions on the telephone in the crowded gangway below.
"Apart from being an exceptional horse who was very hard for me to fault, the Thompsons have been extremely supportive of me, I managed to buy A Plus Tard for them, and I'm delighted to be able to buy this horse off them," said Elliott shortly after the gavel came down in his favour. Although Elliott was unable to reveal the identity of the colt's new owner, he said his purchase would head into training with Clive Cox.

Houghton Bloodstock Sell Son of Kingman for 2,700,000 guineas - one of the highest-priced yearling sold in Europe or North American in 2020!
Houghton Bloodstock broke all it's sales records with Lot 174 - Kingman (GB) / Galicuix (GB) B.C. (GB), selling for an amazing 2,700,000 guineas to agent Oliver St Lawrence at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October sales. The yearling, at the time, becomes the highest-priced yearling by Kingman and at the time, became the highest-priced yearling sold in Europe or North American in 2020.

Quotes from the sales ring:
The Kingman colt out of Galicuix, the dam of the St James's Palace and 2,000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold, fetches 2.7 million guineas. The colt was bought by agent Oliver St Lawrence – the underbidder was Ross Doyle standing next to M V Magnier – and he is the highest-priced yearling by Kingman. The colt was bred by Colin Murfitt at Pantile Stud and was sold by Houghton Bloodstock.
The colt is the highest-priced yearling sold in Europe or North American in 2020. Pantile Stud's stud manager Bo Hicks-Little said: "He has never put a foot wrong. He is a super star, and not just physically, he is so mentally strong too, he is such a professional. He was a late April foal and we had a bad night when he was born as we nearly lost the mare. We had to bottle feed him for 24 hours." The Pantile yearlings always go to Houghton for the last eight weeks of their prep and consignor Robin Sharp was thrilled with the sale.
"That is the best price for Houghton – our previous best was 500,000gns last year," said Sharp. "I am delighted for Colin – he has been a friend and a client for a long time. This is a lovely, lovely colt. He has taken his prep so well and he is so much like Kingman, which is what I think made people take notice of him. He really stood out and is a class-looking horse.
"It is unbelievable, you always approach sales with an amount of trepidation, especially this year. But this is what makes this game – it is like snakes and ladders!" Buyer Oliver St Lawrence said: "He has been bought for Fawzi Nass and Bahrain interests. He is a gorgeous horse, he has a stallion's pedigree. He will be trained in Britain, I don't know where yet."
Murfitt purchased Galicuix, a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Goldream (Oasis Dream), from Trinity Park Stud at the Tattersalls December Sale for 8,000gns in 2013. As a racehorse the daughter of Galileo ran twice and failed to beat another runner. Her first foal was Galileo Gold (Paco Boy), born in 2013, and she has now had five winners from five runners.
Day 2:Another excellent day for Houghton Bloodstock as the second Kingman yearling sells for 310,000 guineas. She is the second foal out of the Listed winner and Group 1-placed Lustrous (Champs Elysees) and was bought by Blandford Bloodstock for 310,000gns. Kingman stood at £55,000 when this crop was conceived. Lustrous was bought by Jeremy Brummitt at the last year's Tattersalls December Mares Sale for 220,000gns.

More Black Type Success for Houghton Bloodstock
Queen of Bermuda, trained by William Haggas and part of the Houghton Bloodstock Breeze up sale consignment, won the Vallee D'auge Listed Stakes race at Deauville to add yet another black type success to horses produced at Fox Farm. This very smart filly has run some excellent races this year, including a fifth in a Group 3 race at Goodwood and it was only a matter of time before she collected some winning black type.
More Group Winners for Houghton Bloodstock
Houghton Bloodstock enjoyed another memorable weekend with horses raised at Fox Farm. Ravens Lady (Ravens Pass, Pivitol Lady (Pivitol), trained by Marco Botti won the Group 3 WILLIAM HILL SUMMER STAKES at York getting the better of William Haggis trained Pretty Baby. This lovely chesnut filly, built on her very good second in a listed race at Haydock in May and has been improving rapidly all season.
The weekend got even better for Houghton Bloodstock when another horse raised at Fox Farm, Euchen Glen, landed the prestigious £124,000 John Smith's Cup Handicap in emphatic style from Thundering Blue. This followed an excellent 2nd in the BETFRED NORTHUMBERLAND VASE HANDICAP at Newcastle a few weeks ago. Congratulations goes to owner/breeder Mr William Johnstone.
